ISLAMABAD, Nov 12 (APP):Russia’s Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, Aleksandr Babakov, on Wednesday called for building a fair and multipolar world order, urging stronger parliamentary cooperation to promote peace, security and development.
Addressing the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC) in Islamabad, he thanked Pakistan for hosting the event and said parliamentary diplomacy was vital to bridging global divides.
He criticised Western policies for fuelling instability and warned that efforts to expand NATO’s presence in the Asia-Pacific threatened regional balance.
Babakov highlighted the roles of SCO, BRICS, EAEU and ASEAN in fostering inclusive cooperation and reaffirmed Russia’s support for the United Nations as the core of multilateral diplomacy.
He, however, cautioned that attempts to impose a “rules-based order” outside the UN framework undermined global stability.
He commended Pakistan’s initiative in organising the conference, which calls for greater inter-parliamentary engagement to advance peace and sustainable development.
