ISLAMABAD, Jan 24 (APP):Calling youth the future of the nation, Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Senator Rubina Khalid on Saturday urged students to pursue education with dedication, honesty, and hard work.
She was addressing the Platinum Jubilee ceremony of the FORWARD System of Education at Nishtar Hall, Peshawar.
She was the chief guest at the grand ceremony held to commemorate 75 years of educational services of the FORWARD System of Education.
Upon her arrival, students warmly welcomed her and presented floral bouquets. Chairman FORWARD System of Education Muhammad Mumtaz Khan, Chief Executive Zafar-ul-Salam, Chief Patron Mrs. Hamida Zafar, Managing Director Sarfaraz Khan, and Principal FORWARD High School Dr. Sobia Saqib were also present on the occasion.
The event paid rich tribute to the founder of the institution and acknowledged his invaluable services to the education sector, said a news release.
Established in 1950, the FORWARD System of Education has played a significant role over the past seven decades in educating thousands of students and producing capable individuals for society. Alumni, teachers, educationists, and distinguished guests from various walks of life attended the ceremony.
In her address, Senator Rubina Khalid appreciated the long-standing educational services of the FORWARD System of Education and paid glowing tribute to renowned educationist Professor Muhammad Shafi Sabir, describing him as a valuable national asset who devoted his life to the promotion of education.
She emphasized that educational institutions play a vital role in shaping the intellectual and moral foundations of future generations, adding that education is not limited to acquiring degrees but is essential for character-building, awareness, and social responsibility.
Highlighting the objectives of BISP, she said the programme is working to promote economic empowerment, financial inclusion, and social protection of over ten million women across the country.
She said the struggle of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto serves as a symbol of courage and resilience for women and youth, and encouraged students, particularly young girls, to draw inspiration from her vision and contribute positively to society through peaceful and dignified efforts.
She further said that national progress depends on the skills, character, and academic excellence of the youth, and urged students to not only secure a better future for themselves but also contribute towards the development and prosperity of the country.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the school administration presented a commemorative shield to Senator Rubina Khalid, who in return presented honorary shields to the institution’s management, Board of Directors, and Principal.
Students presented cultural performances and tableaux, while the 75th anniversary cake was ceremonially cut.
The Platinum Jubilee ceremony concluded with a renewed commitment to honoring educational services, preserving national educational heritage, and strengthening the journey of knowledge and learning for future generations.
