ISLAMABAD, July 31 (APP): As many as Rs 30.76 million on Sunday was distributed among 187 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan Agency (NWA), whose houses were damaged during the Zarb-e-Azab operation.

According to Assistant Political Officer (APO) Miranshah Anwar Khan Sherani and Assistant Political Agent Mirali Manzoor Khan Afridi, who talked to APP on phone, owners of fully damaged houses were paid Rs 400,000 each and of partially damaged ones Rs 160,000 each.

Some 71 families of Miranshah Tehsil and 116 of Mirali Tehsil
received the cheques, 32 of them got Rs 400,000 each and 155 Rs 160,000 each.

The cheque distribution ceremony, which was held in Lirali,
was attended by Lt Col Ghulam Abbas, Major Babar and Captain Badar from 15-NLI Pakistan Army. Officials from the Political Administration of Miranshah and Mirali, including Tehsildar Miranshah Fazal Dad Wasafi and Tehsildar Mirali Saraf Ali, besides tribal elders, were also present on the occasion.

The two officials said the Pakistan Army and Political
Administration of North Waziristan Agency were taking various steps for the rehabilitation of all the IDPs.

To a question, Manzoor Afridi said the all the cheques
were distributed among the IDPs on merit.

The victim families thanked the Pakistan Army and Political
Administration and demanded that this financial aid should be
increased from Rs 400,000 to Rs one million keeping in view the price hike.
