LAHORE, Mar 26 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar Tuesday said that a sum of Rs 113 billion was paid to the sugarcane growers in the province.
In a tweet on Tuesday, he said as much as 99.7 percent dues of previous years have also been paid to the farmers, said a handout issued here.
The CM said that sugarcane crop worth Rs. 133 billion had been procured in the current season in Punjab while remaining dues will also be paid to the farmers soon.
Sugar mills mafia ruled Punjab for many decades and sugarcane farmers were not paid their payments for many years, he added.
