ISLAMABAD, Dec 7 (APP):Wellington branch of Roots International Schools and Colleges (RISC) hosted a Student Council Oath Taking Ceremony in an effort to encourage young individuals to regularize the student body and become responsible citizens.

Pakistan Baitul Maal (PBM) Managing Director Malik Zaheer Abbas Khokhar, on Tuesday, took oath from the members of Student Council of Roots International Schools and Colleges as the Chief Guest of the ceremony held at Wellington Campus in Islamabad.

Khokhar was greeted warmly at the premises, and he was taken on a tour of the campus, where he was shown several student-designed projects. The students briefed the chief guest about their projects and received great appreciation and encouragement for their work.

All the students of Student Council took an oath to be active and responsible members and would abide by the laws made by the school and managing body to guarantee themselves and the student body, a better campus life.

The students promised to strive for the betterment of not only the school but the betterment of the society in general.

After administering oath, the guest of honours along with CEO, RISC Walid Mushtaq awarded sashes and badges to members of the council which were received with immense pride and diligence.

The chief guest congratulated and advised the students to work with responsibility and honesty and to uphold those honourable positions with integrity. He described the college elections as a platform for the council to learn how to maintain discipline, interact with their peers and aid their fellow students, while also emphasing on leadership and determination of the youth to make a revolutionary change in the country, remaining true to the roles they had taken on.

Walid Mushtaq in is his brief talk thanked the guests for taking out time of their hectic schedules to attend the event. He said their presence would not only motivate the students but would also encourage them to take steps which would be beneficial in their educational and societal growth.

He affirmed that RISC was looking forward to establish a close working relationship with their organisations by signing an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of strategic collaborations.

Earlier, the students were also invited to share their experience in Roots,as well as the platform and opportunities provided by the Institute’s teachers.

A virtual tour of the Institute was given, as well as a short documentary about the State of the Art building. Then a group of young children gave an outstanding presentation about the various temptations that might ruin a person’s life. A young girl was shown to have succumbed to drugs and other temptations.

These temptations would subsequently lead to her being subjected to abuse and violence, eventually leading to suicidal thoughts. One loving hand, on the other hand, served as a beacon of hope, removing all of the curses and restoring the beautiful girl’s radiance to her cheeks.

This was not the first interaction of Roots with the PBM; Roots was keen to work with PBM under different projects and encouraged its students to volunteerism and giving back to society, CEO of RISC, Walid Mushtaq said.

The ceremony was also attended by Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Chairman Qaiser Alam. Both guests took oath from the members of the Student Council, and the ceremony ended with a group photo of the participants.
