PESHAWAR, Sept 24 (APP): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engr. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has that the entire process of return and rehabilitation is underway through a comprehensive return and rehabilitation strategy and time lines are being met very efficiently.

He expressed these views in a workshop arranged by Alumni Association on “Peace and Development in FATA and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.” FATA Parliamentarians, ACS FATA and representatives of civil society were also present on the occasion. Governor also handed over a cheque of Rs. 1, 46, 13, 084/- to TDP’s secretariat on behalf of the alumni association.

While addressing the workshop the Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra said that FATA has undergone immense troubled times during the past one and half decade.

He said, it suffered unprecedented displacement of population, with most of their dwellings and lively hoods destroyed due to the menace of terrorism.

Approximately 450,000 families were displaced from their native areas and more than 2500 public service delivery institutions were either partially or completely destroyed, the
Governor remarked.

He said more than 100,000 houses were either damaged or completely destroyed during the crises. Moreover, he added that the situation in FATA is improving day by day with the efforts of Pakistan Army and security forces.

The Governor said that with blessings of Almighty Allah, approximately 350,000 families have returned to their native places. Remaining families are in the process of return and this phase will be completed by end of this year, he added.

An amount of Rs.8 billion has been spent on rehabilitation of the damaged infrastructure, he said, adding that speedy mechanisms have been adopted for efficient and effective implementation of the reconstruction and rehabilitation projects.

For recovery of infrastructure, he said, Rs.4.000 billion have been provided to the agencies for disbursements, while process of various surveys is underway for the remaining damages.
