RAWALPINDI, Jan 08 (APP): The Pakistan Army and law enforcement agencies busy in rescue and relief efforts would shift all stranded people to five army relief camps established at Murree and would provide food and shelter to people affected by heavy snowfall.


The Army relief centres were established at Army School of Technicians Barian, Military college Murree, Jhika Gali, APS Kuldana, Station supply Depot Sunny Bank, said an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) news release.


The Frontier Works Organization (FWO) dozers and army engineers were busy to keep roads open, whereas the Murree Expressway was opened and cleared from any fresh snow by National Highways Authority (NHA), FWO and Army Engineers, it added.


“All resources are at the disposal of Murree division in terms of engineers, machinery mobilised and will remain in the field till all people are evacuated,” the ISPR said.


It added that special arrangements were made to evacuate people on military transport, however, the Central Control Division was established at Murree Division.


Rescue centres were established at APS and Army School of Logistics Kuldana, where all relief camps were provided with heating arrangements.


It underscored that heavy machinery from Murree , army engineers Division and FWO were working without any pause to assist people who were struck whereas troops were out in the field.


“Where machinery can’t reach, troops have been moved and they are clearing traffic and opening roads,” the ISPR statement said.
