Reports on Speaker’s remarks about Khaleda Zia’s funeral refuted

ISLAMABAD, Jan 05 (APP): A National Assembly spokesman on Monday clarified that Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq’s informal discussion with journalists had been misinterpreted by certain sections of the media.

The spokesman clarified that the Speaker neither stated nor implied that he was prevented by the Indian delegation from attending the funeral of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.

During the visit,the Speaker, along with other international delegations, including Indian Foreign Minister S. J. Shankar, travelled in the same bus to the funeral site. Upon arrival, he attended the funeral prayers with the Bangladeshi public, and no incident occurred in which the Speaker was stopped or restricted by the Indian delegation.
