ISLAMABAD, Nov 07 (APP):The spokesperson of the National Assembly Secretariat has denied media reports claiming that all Capital Development Authority (CDA) staff assigned duties in the Parliament House have been transferred.
“In certain sections of the media, reports have circulated suggesting that all CDA staff deputed at the Parliament House have been transferred. These reports are incorrect,” the spokesperson of the National Assembly Secretariat said in a statement on Friday.
Clarifying the matter, the spokesperson stated that only the janitorial staff deputed by the CDA has been withdrawn, as the National Assembly Secretariat has outsourced janitorial and lift operation services through a transparent open tendering process.
The spokesperson further elaborated that all other CDA officers and technical staff continue to perform their duties at the Parliament House as before.
He added that the decision regarding outsourcing was taken by the Finance Committee of the National Assembly, chaired by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and comprised of representatives from all parliamentary parties. The Committee’s decision to withdraw the CDA janitorial staff and invite open tenders was unanimous.
In the tendering process, thirteen reputed firms participated, and the contract was awarded to a company already providing services to other major government institutions.
According to the spokesperson, the new arrangement is expected to result in annual savings of approximately Rs. 100 million for the national exchequer while improving overall service delivery within the Parliament House.
The National Assembly Secretariat has also acknowledged the continued cooperation of the CDA and expressed gratitude for its longstanding support in maintaining and servicing the Parliament House.
