ISLAMABAD, Sep 15 (APP):Renowned Pakistani Urdu writer Hajra Masroor was remembered on Tuesday as her 14th death anniversary was observed.
Born on January 17, 1930, she migrated to Pakistan following independence in 1947 and later settled in Lahore. She was the sister of noted writer Khadija Masroor.
Hajra Masroor made a significant contribution to Urdu literature through her short stories, highlighting issues related to women’s social, political, legal and economic rights.
Her famous short stories include Chand Ki Doosri Taraf, Teesri Manzil, Chori Chupey and Andhere Ujale.
In recognition of her literary services, she received several awards, including the Pride of Performance in 1995 and the Aalmi Frogh-e-Urdu Adab Award.
She died in Karachi on September 15, 2012, leaving behind a rich literary legacy and a lasting contribution to Urdu literature.
