Relief work have started in Malakand division: NDMA

ISLAMABAD, Oct 28 (APP): Chairman NDMA Major General (R) Asghar Nawaz
said far-flung areas of Malakand division and Bajor agency have been
reached and rescue work has been started there.
Talking to PTV News, he said presence of Army and law enforcement
agencies in those areas made it easier to carry out recuse and relief
services.He informed that major roads like Korakaram Highway (KKH) and link
roads of Chitral and other affected areas have been opened and there was
accessibility. To a question he said Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA)
was contacted immediately to inquire about the cellular network services in
these areas.
“Cellular services were working fine in those areas which helped us in
our rescue work,” he told.
To another question he said NDMA gathered data of effectees from
district administration and union council level, adding that the entire compensation work will also be done according to this data. Chitral and Shangla districts, were the most affected areas.He said the NDMA started its relief operations right after the
earthquake struck different parts of the country. The six trained teams of the NDMA were carrying out rescue operation while the Authority had
provided some 2500 blankets and 2000 plastic sheets to the victims.
He said Pakistan Army had set up three relief camps in Dir,
Chitral and Bajaur, and the NDMA established camps in Dir and Tamirgara.
