Regional cooperation, imperative for economic progress: Ahsan Iqbal

ISLAMABAD, Aug 11 (APP): Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal on Thursday said from onward, people should acquaint themselves with “ Rising Pakistan”.

Addressing a function organized in connecting with two-year completion of Vision Pakistan 2025, the minister said that regional cooperation is main pillar of economic progress.

He called on private sector to come forward and play its role in economic prosperity, adding the government is committed to removing all hurdles in process of progress and development.

He said political stability and continuity of economic polices are necessary for progress.

Ahsan Iqbal said people have full confidence in economic and security policies of the government.

He said under the Vision Pakistan 2025, there is a dire need to bring reforms in public sector and civil service.

The vision Pakistan was formulated to compete with global markets, adding four provinces, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir also agreed on this issue.

He said that Vision Pakistan is a comprehensive framework to promote economic progress, higher education, promotion of science and technology, industrial reforms, and energy besides enhancing regional cooperation.

He said that it is meant to put the country on path of economic and social prosperity, adding the Pakistani economy will be among 25 top economies of the world.

The minister said that foreign investment is coming into the country due to positive economic policies and reforms.

Building road infrastructure and modern communication are also part of Vision Pakistan 2025, he added.

Ahsan Iqbal said 14 power projects for generation 10400 MW, will be completed by year 2018.
