KARACHI, Nov 05 (APP):In compliance with the orders of the Sindh High Court, the Karachi Zoo administration of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and the Wildlife team successfully transferred Rano the bear from Karachi Zoo to Islamabad in a specially designed natural-style cage via a Pakistan Air Force aircraft.
According to KMC spokesperson Danial Siyal on Wednesday, the journey of Rano the bear was completed due to the team’s tireless efforts and professional approach.
For the transfer, the professional staff of the Pakistan Air Force at Faisal Air Base Karachi carefully offloaded the transfer crate from the cargo vehicle and skillfully loaded it into a C-130 aircraft.
The plane departed Karachi at 8:30 a.m and landed safely at Noor Khan Air Base in Islamabad.
The KMC spokesperson said, “We are deeply grateful to Chief Conservator Javed Mahar, the Pakistan Air Force, Islamabad Wildlife, and other institutions for their full cooperation throughout this process.”
During the flight, members of the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board, Abbas, Anees Sana, along with Karachi Zoo’s veterinary doctor Amir, Sindh Livestock Department’s Dr Shehla Hayat, Dr Zulfiqar Haider, Deputy Conservator of Wildlife Karachi Mumtaz Ali Soomro, and Mahira Umar, took turns monitoring Rano through the crate windows.
Rano remained calm throughout the journey and preferred to sleep, while the aircraft’s oxygen level and air-conditioning system remained fully functional.
During the offloading process at Noor Khan Air Base, Pakistan Air Force personnel assisted the Rano translocation team, while members of the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board were present at the exit gate to receive the bear.
According to the KMC spokesperson, the Islamabad Wildlife team welcomed Rano with flowers and took custody of her, from where she was soon transferred to a designated sanctuary.
The spokesperson further stated that Rano is in perfect health, and all details regarding her diet and care have been provided to the Islamabad Wildlife Board.
Full compliance with Sindh High Court’s orders has been ensured, and a progress report will be submitted to the court at the next hearing.
The entire transfer process was conducted transparently, with the media and civil society kept informed at every stage.
