Rana Tanveer directs PSF to patronise science projects of private individuals

ISLAMABAD, Jan 8 (APP):Minister for Science and Technology Rana Tanveer Hussain Monday instructed Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) to follow up Science projects’ initiatives taken by private individuals and to further stimulate industrial community to take patronage of these projects.
Chairing a meeting, he appreciated the Research and Development (R&D) based linkages with China, Turkey and other Countries and further directed Chairman, PSF to vigorously pursue such linkages with the developed countries like Germany, South Korea and others to let Pakistan take benefit from their research based products.
Chairman, PSF Professor Dr. Muhammad Ashraf briefed the chair regarding numerous initiatives and projects being taken by PSF.
The Minister lamented that a tremendous job had been done by different attached departments of Ministry of Science & Technology but these were not being properly translated into socio-economic development of the country in a befitting manner, which was the ultimate goal behind every scientific endeavor.
During the course of the meeting, the chair was briefed about numerous research based applied projects carried out under the umbrella of PSF. The Minister while appreciating the efforts of PSF, instructed Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) that the Chambers of Commerce and Industrial Sector should be jointly involved in the research based scientific projects 4.
Rana Tanveer Hussain, expressed that several new caravan units should be expanded in far off areas of the country including FATA and GB so that the masses in these regions might contribute their rightful share towards promotion of science in Pakistan.
The chair took notice of the dysfunctional unit of Ministry of Science & Technology STEDEC whose primary mandate is to commercialize the research based products. The chair instructed to develop a Business Model to effectuate socio-economic development through indigenous technologies.
