ISLAMABAD, Nov 11 (APP):Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, said that the nation has suffered a grave loss with the passing of Senator Irfan Siddiqui after a brief illness.
He noted that the veteran statesman and distinguished columnist breathed his last in Islamabad on Monday, leaving behind an enduring legacy of public service.
Rana Mashhood said Senator Siddiqui devoted his life to public service and the power of the written word, guiding national thought with grace, wisdom, and an unwavering commitment to democratic values. His contributions in journalism and politics, he added, will continue to inspire policymakers, writers, and young minds for generations to come.
Senator Irfan Siddiqui was born in Rawalpindi, Punjab. He began his career in journalism by contributing to magazines and later became a prominent columnist in leading newspapers.
He served as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Affairs and held key roles in the Pakistan Muslim League (N), including Parliamentary Party Leader in the Senate and Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Siddiqui was awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz in 2014 in recognition of his services in politics and journalism. His intellect, vision, and principled approach made him a trusted voice across political and literary circles in Pakistan.
Rana Mashhood described his demise as an irreparable loss for the country.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that Allah Almighty grants the departed soul the highest rank in Jannat-ul-Firdous and gives strength to the family to bear this profound grief.
