ISLAMABAD, Sep 18 (APP): Chairman Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, visited the National Press Club (NPC) Islamabad where he attended a “Meet the Press” session and inaugurated the newly renovated NPC Sports Room.

Upon his arrival, Rana Mashhood was warmly received by NPC Secretary, Vice President Syed Zafar Hashmi, Senior Joint Secretary Shiraz Gardezi, Governing Body Members Aamir Rafiq Butt, Naveed Ahmed Sheikh, Jafar Ali Balti, and other office-bearers.
During the session, NPC Secretary and Vice President thanked the distinguished guest for supporting the renovation of the Sports Room. They described him as a genuine friend of journalists who continues to serve the media community with dedication.
The NPC leadership also requested his assistance in providing two air conditioners for the Sports Room and establishing a computer lab to facilitate members.
Responding sympathetically, Rana Mashhood assured that their request would be considered. He noted that this was his first visit to NPC and expressed his delight at being among the journalist fraternity.
He pledged to collaborate with NPC leadership on future projects and added that young journalists and their children could also benefit from online training courses offered under the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme.
The Chairman commended the role of Pakistani media during the recent Pakistan–India conflict. He contrasted it with India’s “lapdog media,” which spread fabricated stories, while Pakistan’s timely and fact-based reporting exposed India before the world.
Highlighting the Youth Programme’s initiatives, Rana Mashhood said significant steps were being taken for the health, future, businesses, and sporting prospects of young people.
He reiterated that laptops would be distributed to students, adding that Pakistan had already achieved global recognition as the fourth-largest country in the field of e-commerce.
In response to a question on sports, Rana Mashhood said whether it is the Kashmir Premier League (KPL) or Pakistan Super League (PSL), the government’s mission is to provide platforms for national talent.
He informed that academies and labs for children’s training had already been set up, while 23 Olympic sports were being promoted to improve national standards and boost Pakistan’s chances of winning medals.
“The day merit prevails in this country,” he stressed, “winning medals will no longer remain a challenge. Together, we will make Pakistan stronger and fulfill the true purpose for which it was created.
