ISLAMABAD, Feb 10 (APP): Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad Irfan Memon on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting for finalising a citywide plan to establish Ramazan bazaars in all subdivisions to provide food items at official rates.
The meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office and was attended by all assistant commissioners and representatives of the market committee. Officials reviewed arrangements for setting up Ramazan bazaars, identifying locations, and ensuring smooth operations during the fasting month.
According to decisions taken in the meeting, Ramazan bazaars will be established across all subdivisions of Islamabad. These bazaars will offer vegetables, fruits, and other essential food items at DC-notified rates. The administration directed field officers to ensure that prices displayed at the stalls strictly follow the official rate lists.
Officials briefed the meeting on proposed locations for the bazaars in each subdivision. The briefing covered accessibility for residents, space for stalls, and movement of buyers. The administration also reviewed plans related to parking facilities near the bazaars to avoid traffic congestion in surrounding areas.
Security arrangements were another key point discussed during the meeting. Officials were instructed to coordinate with relevant departments to maintain order at the bazaars, manage crowds, and ensure safe entry and exit points for citizens. The administration aims to make the bazaars functional throughout Ramazan without disruption.
Deputy Commissioner Irfan Memon said the primary objective of the Ramazan bazaars is to provide citizens with food items at lower prices during the holy month. He said the district administration would monitor supply chains to ensure that essential goods remain available in sufficient quantity.
The DC issued clear instructions that no concession would be given to those involved in overcharging or hoarding. He directed assistant commissioners and market committee officials to carry out regular inspections of both Ramazan bazaars and open markets. Violations of price controls will lead to action under relevant laws.
The meeting also discussed coordination between the district administration and market committees to ensure daily monitoring of prices and supplies. Officials were instructed to address complaints promptly and take corrective steps where required.
The district administration stated that these measures are part of a broader effort to support residents during Ramazan by easing the burden of household expenses. With bazaars planned in all subdivisions and prices fixed at DC rates, the administration aims to provide relief to a large number of citizens across the federal capital.
The Islamabad administration said preparations will continue in the coming days to ensure that all Ramazan bazaars become operational on time and function smoothly throughout the month.
