Rainfall in ICT prompts field monitoring; officials focus on low-lying areas, traffic flow

ISLAMABAD, Jul 01 (APP): Rainfall was recorded in several areas of the federal capital on Wednesday, leading the district administration to intensify monitoring across low-lying locations and drainage channels.
Officials were directed to remain in the field and coordinate with traffic authorities to ensure smooth traffic movement and address any issues caused by the rain.
According to the district administration, rain was reported in different parts of Islamabad during the day. Following the weather conditions, the Deputy Commissioner instructed all Assistant Commissioners to remain present in their respective areas and closely monitor the situation.
Officials were specifically directed to keep watch on low-lying localities and storm-water drains where water accumulation could affect residents and road users. The monitoring exercise was aimed at identifying potential problems at an early stage and ensuring a timely response where necessary.
The administration also directed Assistant Commissioners to work in coordination with traffic police officials to maintain the flow of traffic on key roads and intersections. Traffic management measures were put in place to reduce congestion and assist commuters traveling through areas affected by rainfall.
Authorities said field teams would continue monitoring conditions and remain available to respond to any developments linked to the weather. The administration emphasized the importance of maintaining communication among relevant departments to ensure quick action if required.
Residents were advised to remain cautious while traveling during rainy conditions and to follow traffic advisories issued by the authorities. Officials said monitoring would continue until weather conditions returned to normal across the capital.
