Rain, thunderstorms likely in upper parts, Potohar, northeast Punjab

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain-windstorm/thunderstorm with isolated hailstorm and heavy rain in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Potohar region and northeastern Punjab on Wednesday.

ISLAMABAD, Oct 06 (APP): Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain-windstorm/thunderstorm with isolated hailstorm and heavy rain in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Potohar region and northeastern Punjab on Wednesday.
The weather will remain hot and dry in other parts of the country.
According to the PMD, partly cloudy weather with rain-windstorm/thunderstorm is expected in Islamabad and adjoining areas during morning hours, with isolated hailstorm and heavy rain also likely.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, partly cloudy weather is expected in most districts, with rain-windstorm/thunderstorm in Chitral,
Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Bajaur, Swabi and Nowshera. Isolated heavy rain and hailstorm are also likely.
In Punjab, rain-windstorm/thunderstorm is expected in Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Gujrat, Sheikhupura, Lahore, Narowal, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Mianwali, Hafizabad and Mandi Bahauddin.
Isolated heavy rain and hailstorm are also likely, while other districts are expected to remain dry.
Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are likely to experience cloudy weather with isolated rain-windstorm/thunderstorm, while isolated hailstorm and heavy rain may also occur.
Most districts of Sindh are expected to remain hot and dry, although partly cloudy weather is likely in Karachi and adjoining areas. Hot and dry weather is also expected in most parts of Balochistan.
The Met Office warned that windstorms, hailstorm and lightning on Wednesday may damage weak structures, including mud houses and walls, electric poles, billboards, vehicles and solar panels.
During the past 24 hours, mainly dry weather prevailed across the country, with hot conditions in plain areas.
Rain-wind/thunderstorm occurred at isolated places in the Potohar region, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, with isolated hailstorm and heavy rain also recorded.
The highest rainfall was recorded in Peshawar City at 38mm, followed by Attock 31mm, Cherat 17mm, Malam Jabba and Takht Bai 10mm each, Murree 6mm and Dir Lower 5mm.
Turbat recorded the highest maximum temperature at 44C, followed by Sibi at 40C, while Dadu, Rohri and Dalbandin recorded 39C each.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in major cities include Islamabad 28/23C, Lahore 37/24C, Karachi 33/27C, Peshawar 23/21C, Quetta 32/18C, Gilgit 29/12C, Muzaffarabad 31/18C, Skardu 27/9C, Murree 18/11C, Faisalabad 36/26C and Multan 36/25C.
