ISLAMABAD, Mar 30 (APP):The National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has cautioned that rain accompanied by strong winds and dust storms is likely to persist across most parts of the country during the next 12 to 24 hours.
The advisory further noted that snowfall is expected in the upper and mountainous areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa within the same period.
Snowfall is expected in the upper and mountainous regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the next 12 to 24 hours.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has cautioned that continuous rains in northern areas may heighten the risk of glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs) in vulnerable parts of Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The NDMA has warned that rain accompanied by thunderstorms, strong winds, and dust storms is expected in parts of Balochistan, Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with chances of hail at isolated locations.
The advisory further cautioned that over the next 12 to 24 hours, Islamabad and several cities of Punjab – including Murree, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Gujar Khan, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin, and Lahore – are likely to experience strong winds, dust storms, and rain with thunderstorms.
Rain is also expected in Khushab, Sargodha, Jhang, Faisalabad, Kasur, Okara, Bahawalpur, Burewala, Multan, Dera Ismail Khan, Narowal, Chiniot, Nankana Sahib, Pakpattan, and Sahiwal.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, both upper and southern regions are likely to experience rain with thunderstorms and strong winds over the next 12 to 24 hours.
Rain with strong winds and dust storms is also expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Mingora, Battagram, Peshawar, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swabi, Nowshera, Mardan, Charsadda, Kohat, Karak, Bannu, Waziristan, and Lakki Marwat.

Rain is expected in several areas of Balochistan, including Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Qila Saifullah, Pishin, Chaman, Kohlu, Dukki, and Harnai over the next 12 to 24 hours.
In Sindh, rain with thunderstorms is likely in Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, Umerkot, Hyderabad, and Mirpurkhas during the same period.
Due to westerly weather systems, the spell of rain is expected to continue in the upper and western parts of the country, with intermittent showers likely to persist into the first ten days of April.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has urged precautions against possible flooding in Dera Ghazi Khan, Tank, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Kohat, Karak, Malakand, Dir, Swat, Waziristan, and Charsadda.
Flood-like conditions are also anticipated in several districts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Zhob, Sherani, Musa Khel, Qila Saifullah, Loralai, Ziarat, and Sibi.
In Punjab, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has cautioned that increased flow is expected in hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan and the Suleiman Range. The alert also warned of possible urban flooding in Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, Attock, Gujrat, Lahore, and Multan.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has cautioned that heavy rainfall may increase water flow in local streams and adjoining areas, with a moderate flood situation likely in low-lying regions. Hill torrents and seasonal streams are expected to surge, while urban areas face the risk of flash flooding.
The NDMA has directed rescue agencies and district administrations to remain on high alert to ensure timely response and preparedness.
Authorities have been directed to ensure the availability of drainage machinery and make advance arrangements to cope with potential urban flooding.
The NDMA advisory warned that strong winds, lightning, and hailstorms across the country may damage weak structures, trees, and electricity lines. It further cautioned that rain could make roads slippery, posing risks of traffic disruption.
In mountainous areas, snowfall may disrupt traffic flow, and travelers have been advised to exercise caution. Continuous rain in hilly regions increases the risk of landslides, while urban residents have been urged to avoid unnecessary travel, drive carefully, and follow weather instructions.
The advisory further warned the public to stay away from trees, weak structures, and installations during strong winds and storms. Tourists and travelers have been asked to check weather and road conditions before heading to northern areas. Citizens are also advised to obtain timely updates through the NDMA’s official mobile application, Pak NDMA Disaster Alert.
The NDMA has expressed satisfaction that prevailing weather conditions are consistent with the seasonal outlook released in January.
The National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC), which can issue early warnings on climate risks and natural disasters up to six months in advance, has cautioned authorities and the public to remain vigilant.
