ISLAMABAD, Aug 09 (APP): Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has announced the revival of two suspended Pakistan Railways services, saying the move was made in response to repeated demands from passengers and to strengthen the railway network.
The Babu Passenger and Sandal Express, both suspended for several years, will return to service later this month.
The Babu Passenger, which operates between Lahore and Lala Musa, will resume its operations from August 20. The Sandal Express, running between Multan and Sargodha via Jhang, will start operating again from August 21.
Both services were suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic and had remained out of operation since then.
Hanif Abbasi said the decision followed repeated requests from passengers and was taken in the wider interest of Pakistan Railways.
The minister added that additional train services would be brought back later this year, while passenger facilities would also be upgraded in line with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision.
