ISLAMABAD, Jul 19 (APP): Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi Sunday that Pakistan Railways was emerging as a symbol of reform, innovation and improved public service delivery under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
In a post on X, the minister said the government’s unwavering focus on performance, transparency and public welfare had paved the way for transforming Pakistan Railways into a modern institution, ensuring that every citizen benefits from improved rail services.
He said a new chapter of modernisation and public service was being written under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, adding that comprehensive reforms were aimed at making the railway system more efficient, reliable and passenger-friendly.
Hanif Abbasi also thanked Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for her strong support in improving railway infrastructure and services across the province.
He said that under the Punjab government’s “Suthra Punjab” campaign, cleanliness standards at railway stations were being significantly enhanced while better facilities were being provided to passengers.
The minister said that with the cooperation of the Punjab government, eight of the province’s busiest railway corridors were being revived through the introduction of modern multiple units.
He further said that the deployment of staff at 117 railway level crossings had improved operational efficiency, enhanced passenger convenience and contributed to the protection of precious human lives.
Hanif Abbasi also appreciated the Punjab chief minister’s commitment to the restoration and preservation of historic railway stations, including Taxila, Rawalpindi, Bhera and Lahore.
He said the initiative aimed to preserve Pakistan’s rich railway heritage while aligning it with a modern and digital future.
The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to modernising Pakistan Railways, strengthening national connectivity, supporting economic growth and providing every Pakistani with safe, efficient, affordable and dignified rail travel.
