Quaid’s 139th birth anniversary celebrated

KARACHI, Dec 25 (APP): The 139th birth anniversary of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was celebrated with enthusiasm on Friday.

An impressive change of guard ceremony was held at the Mazar (mausoleum) of the Father of the Nation. The cadets of Pakistan Military Academy Kakul mounted the ceremonial guard at the Mazar.

President Mamnoon Hussain visited the mausoleum of the Father of the Nation, laid a wreath and offered Fateha. He was accompanied by  Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan and Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah.

People from various walks of life also visited the Mazar to pay tribute to Quaid-i-Azam.

The electronic media, including radio and television channels, aired special programmes on various aspects on the life and achievements of the Founder of Pakistan.

The newspapers also brought out special supplements on the occasion.

Several academic, literary and other organizations arranged programmes to mark the birth anniversary of the Founder of Pakistan.

The day was declared by the government a public holiday.
