ISLAMABAD, Nov 15 (APP): Qalam Karwan has hosted a virtual literary session under the Aalmi Halqa-e-Mutalia Seerat-un-Nabi series titled “Lehron Ki Dosh Par”.
The special session was presided over by Prof. Dr. Ansar-ud-Din Madani of Karakoram International University, Gilgit, on Friday night.
Eminent educationist, scholar of contemporary sciences, and senior intellectual Dr. Hasan Shahid from Bahria Town, Rawalpindi delivered the keynote address.
His lecture focused on the events of the month of Jumada al-Awwal, particularly “The Blessed Marriage of Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyida Khadija tul-Kubra (RA).”
Dr. Shahid presented a detailed introduction to Sayyida Khadija (RA), noting that her family traced its lineage to the Prophet Ibrahim (AS) through his son Prophet Isma’il (AS), and that they remained free from idol worship and polytheistic practices. Her father, Khuwaylid, was a respected and notable trader, and her two brothers were also engaged in trade alongside him.
He further explained that Sayyida Khadija (RA) had been widowed twice and was deeply impressed by the noble character and integrity of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), which prompted her to propose marriage. The Prophet (PBUH), after consulting his uncle Abu Talib, gave his consent, and the blessed union was solemnized with honour and simplicity.
Highlighting her business acumen, Dr. Shahid noted that Sayyida Khadija (RA) conducted trade under the principles of mudarabah (profit-sharing partnership). While observing modesty and remaining within the sanctity of her home, she supervised her commercial affairs with dignity and wisdom.
Concluding his address, he criticized the growing extravagance in contemporary wedding practices and urged the society to adopt the simplicity exemplified in the marriage of Sayyida Khadija tul-Kubra (RA).
Participants from across the country and from abroad attended the virtual session. A question-and-answer segment followed, after which the proceedings formally concluded with the presidential remarks.
