CHINIOT, Dec 7 (APP):Acting on directives from the Director-General of the Punjab Food Authority, enforcement teams carried out a district-wide inspection on Sunday, checking 84 food-related establishments, including 38 milk-carrier vehicles. The checks revealed that a significant portion of the milk supply was severely adulterated, prompting authorities to destroy the contaminated product on the spot. In addition to the milk, more than one kilogram of substandard food items was seized and disposed of during the operation.
The violations uncovered during the raid triggered a series of fines, with grocery shops and milk sale points collectively penalized to the tune of Rs 47,000. Officials emphasized that the penalties reflect the seriousness of the breaches, which pose a direct risk to public health.
The Punjab Food Authority spokesperson warned that such enforcement actions will continue unabated until compliance with safety standards is achieved across the district Chiniot.
