PTV Foundation awarded landing rights permission for CCTV News, 9 Documentary
Chinese Ambassador says CPEC projects under smooth implementation

ISLAMABAD, June 30 (APP): A ceremony to award Landing Rights Permission for CCTV News and CCTV-9 Documentary to Pakistan Television Foundation was held here Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong said Pakistan and China have enjoyed strong bonds of friendship for past 65 years which had withstood tests of time.

He said that several agreements were signed during Chinese President’s visit to Pakistan last year and agreement for grant of landing rights to CCTV News and CCTV-9 Documentary was one of them.

He said China Central Television is the state television broadcaster in People’s Republic of China and its news channel broadcasts reports and features in depth.

He said that CCTV broadcasts will let Pakistani viewers know about China in a better manner.

He said that CCTV Documentary Channel highlights history of China. He said that Dosti Channel FM 98 already operational, is playing its role in further cementing bilateral relationship.

The Chinese ambassador said that more understating will bring the hearts more closer. He said that construction of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will transform political friendship into enhanced economic partnership.

Secretary Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Syed Imran Gardezi said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and President had elevated the bilateral ties to new height.

He said that strategic partnership between the two countries has led to signing of the CPEC agreement.

Gardezi termed the agreement of awarding landing rights to PTV Foundation for CCTV channels a milestone in relations with Beijing.

He said that digitalization of PTV rebroadcast stations was being done with Chinese cooperation and work on a pilot project was going on in Murree. He said that both China and Pakistan would benefit from each other television productions.

Earlier, Chairman PEMRA Absar Alam said that in the 21st century our youth need to understand China through the medium of television and CCTV transmissions on cable TV would play an important role in that regard.
