PTI figures join PML-N as Amir Muqam cites past governance, Kashmir agenda

ISLAMABAD, Feb 22 (APP): Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Muqam on Sunday welcomed a group of political figures and workers who announced their decision to join the Pakistan Muslim League (N), saying the move reflects public trust in the party’s record and its approach to Kashmir.
Addressing a gathering, Muqam said Raja Mujahid Khan and thousands of supporters who were earlier linked with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had joined PML-N. Muqam extended congratulations to PML-N leadership in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, including Shah Ghulam Qadir, for what he described as steady political growth.
He said the recent political shifts were visible both on the ground and across social media platforms. According to Muqam, the party has seen a series of new entrants over recent weeks. He recalled earlier joinings by Mir Akbar Khan, followed by Peerzada, Ahmed Khan, Raja Saqib Khan, Chaudhry Razaq Khan and Sardar Tabarak Khan. He said the latest entry of Raja Mujahid Khan marked another stage in this ongoing trend.
Muqam said these figures carry long political backgrounds and public support in their areas, making their decision significant. He stated that people are joining PML-N under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif due to the party’s past performance, particularly during its governments in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
He said citizens are comparing previous governance with current conditions and are hopeful that the party can deliver better results in the future. Referring to recent public gatherings, Muqam said large turnouts were seen in Rawalakot, including university areas, local markets and public meetings. He said this participation reflects public expectations tied to earlier policies and decisions taken by PML-N governments.
The minister added that Nawaz Sharif has consistently raised issues related to Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. He recalled an interaction in Lahore where Sharif told youth that the concerns of Kashmiris and Gilgit-Baltistan residents should be addressed before they are even formally raised, including their inclusion in the National Finance Commission and fair resource sharing.
Muqam concluded by welcoming Raja Mujahid Khan and Raja Qaisar Khan once again, saying their decision was part of a broader political shift driven by public expectations for Kashmir’s future.
