PTI chief postpones Liaquat Bagh gathering

ISLAMABAD, Apr 08 (APP):Chairman of PTI Barrister Gohar Ali Khan on Wednesday announced the postponement of the party’s planned public gathering at Liaquat Bagh, calling it a “goodwill gesture” to support ongoing international ceasefire efforts and promote lasting peace in the Middle East.
Speaking in the National Assembly, he said the decision was made in the national interest and to contribute positively to global efforts for a permanent ceasefire.
He expressed hope that the gesture would encourage a better political atmosphere.
Gohar said the PTI political committee had unanimously agreed to defer the gathering and that the announcement was made in the House to make it official.
He added that the move shows the party’s commitment to peace and stability at home and abroad.
Referring to recent diplomatic progress, he welcomed the ceasefire agreement and praised the efforts of all stakeholders in reducing tensions, expressing optimism that the temporary truce could become permanent.
He added that political differences with the government remain but said PTI had set aside its grievances for the national interest.
“As Pakistanis, it is our duty to stay united for the country’s integrity and global standing,” he said.
Highlighting the need for unity, he said critical times demand collective resolve.
He urged all sides to maintain a consistent approach to peace, warning against internal divisions while promoting harmony externally.
He expressed hope that Pakistan will continue playing a constructive role in supporting long-term peace in the Middle East, respecting the sovereignty of all nations and preventing future conflicts.
