PTA working with Zong to resolve spectrum issue amicably

ISLAMABAD, Oct 30 (APP): Chairman, Pakistan Telecommunication
Authority (PTA), Dr. Ismail Shah has said the Authority was working
with China Mobile Pakistan (Zong) to resolve spectrum issue in an
amicable manner.
Talking to mediapersons in National Assembly here, he said
different options are being discussed with Zong and issue will be
resolved very soon through dialogue.
Dr. Ismail said PTA also launched a campaign against illegal
cordless phones (Dect 6.0) which are causing interference in their
spectrum and added people have been warned using such illegal
devices. He said the imported cordless phones are the root-cause of the
issue, for which authority has already launched a media campaign to
curb its usage.The Chairman said such issues sometimes arise in process of
spectrum allocation in many countries and are resolved subsequently.
Therefore, it will also be resolved here soon.
He said spectrum was made available by Frequency Allocation
Board (FAB) and awarded to the Company at its own choice.
