ISLAMABAD, Dec 27 (APP): The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) management on Saturday expressed deep grief and sorrow over the passing of Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, Chairperson of PSX, renowned economist, and former Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan.
In a condolence message, PSX officials said Dr. Shamshad Akhtar was a visionary leader whose wisdom, integrity, and vast experience greatly strengthened Pakistan’s capital markets and economic institutions. They noted that her contributions to financial governance at both national and international levels will be remembered for generations.
“Dr. Shamshad Akhtar’s leadership and commitment to excellence left a lasting impact on PSX and the broader financial sector. Her demise is an irreparable loss for Pakistan,” the statement said.
The Pakistan Stock Exchange extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that Allah Almighty grant her the highest ranks in Jannah and give patience and strength to her family, friends, and admirers during this difficult time.
Her passing has been widely mourned across financial, academic, and policy circles in the country.
