FAISALABAD, Nov 25 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain Wednesday said the nation should trust honest and truthful people while selecting its leadership and reject those who had deprived the country of progress and created hurdles in the way of development.
Addressing the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (FCCI) Achievement Awards ceremony, he said in order to broaden the taxpayers’ base, innovative suggestions should be put forth and asked the FPCCI to present workable proposals in this regard.
He observed that if the tax rate was fixed at a minimum
level then as a result there could be a considerable increase in
the number of taxpayers, said a press release.
Acceding to the demands presented by FCCI President Chaudhry
Muhammad Nawaz, the President said he would direct the departments
concerned to establish a bench of the Lahore High Court in Faisalabad, besides resolving other issues.
The President said that traders and industrialists should
lend their support to timely completion of the ongoing development
projects in the country, paving way for the economic progress
and prosperity of the people.
“The government has taken steps for resolving the issues of
traders and industrialists by launching electricity generation
projects which will lead to enhancement in exports,” he added.
The President assured that power loadshedding would be
eliminated in the next two or two and a half years and called upon
the people to support the government in completion of all
development projects and reject those people who put hurdles in the
way for their petty interests.
He said it was in the national interest to complete and
operationalize China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects,
adding that many countries of the Central Asia had started
construction of roads to link with the Economic Corridor.
The President said the CPEC had the capacity to change the
fate of not only Pakistan and China but also of the other countries
of the region.
President of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and
Industry (FPCCI) Mian Muhammad Idrees also addressed the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, FCCI President Chaudhary Muhammad
Nawaz appreciated the government policy priorities for
national economic growth.
The action against the terrorists was continuing successfully
and as a result law and order was being improved, besides reviving
the business environment, he added.
He demanded that an export display center should also be
set up in Faisalabad.
On the occasion, awards were given to eminent traders and
industrialists. A posthumous award was also given to the youngest
IT expert Arfa Karim which was received by her father.
