ISLAMABAD, Sep 27 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain Tuesday said the artists were a national asset who were rendering great services in art and culture besides promoting soft image of the country.
The President made the remarks while chairing fifth meeting of the Steering Committee of Federal Government Artists Welfare Fund at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, that took up matters relating to artists and their welfare.
The President said the artists, poets and writers were cultural ambassadors and play a significant role in promoting social and cultural norms of a country.
The President said the government was committed to promote art and cultural activities in the country and was taking various measures to encourage the artists.
The meeting was attended, among others, by Atta-ul-Haq Qasmi, Mustafa Qureshi, Muhammad Qawi Khan and Asghar Nadeem Syed besides high government officials.
