President, PM discuss law & order, quake rehabilitation

ISLAMABAD, Nov 5 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif called on
President Mamnoon Hussain Thursday and discussed matters relating to relief and rehabilitation of earthquake affected people,law and order, economy and operation Zarb-e-Azb.
A statement from the President House said both the leaders in
their meeting here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr discussed issues of national
importance, besides exchanging views on situation in the region.
The Prime Minister briefed the President on policies and
decisions of the government on different issues, the statement said.
They expressed satisfaction over the efforts by the government
for rehabilitation in the quake-hit areas and expressed determination to help the affected people by mobilizing all available resources.
The President complimented the Prime Minister and his economic
team on significant improvement in national economic indicators and
hoped that the initiatives of the government will revitalize the economy and improve standard of living of the people.
They also reiterated their committment towards improving the health
and education sectors.
The President and the Prime Minister reviewed the `Zarb-e-Azb’ operation and law and order situation in Karachi and expressed satisfaction at the success achieved. They resolved that the operation would continue till elimination of terrorism and lawlessness from the country, the statement said.
The Prime Minister also briefed the President on his recent
visit to USA and his meeting with President Obama. They discussed
the regional situation and reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to have
friendly relations with all neighbouring countries for peace and
prosperity in the region.
The President and the Prime Minister noted that work on
different projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor was
proceeding at a satisfactory pace and hoped that successful
completion of the CPEC will usher in an era of unprecedented
development and prosperity not only in Pakistan but in the entire
region.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs
Tariq Fatemi and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on
Political Affairs Dr. Asif Kirmani were also present during the
meeting.
