President for coordinated efforts to prevent, cure diseases

ISLAMABAD, Jan 17 (APP):President Dr. Arif Alvi Thursday urged all provincial departments and NGOs, working for prevention and
cure of diseases, to carry out their task in close coordination to ensure effective and efficient utilization
of resources.
During a briefing given by Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH), the president said the
coordination between the federal and provincial governments was vital to improve the healthcare
delivery system in the country, said a President House statement.
Federal Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Aamer Mehmood Kiani
and President PANAH Major General (R) Masud ur Rehman Kiani were also present on the occasion.
The president said that prevention of diseases must be emphasized to reduce the unnecessary
burden on the healthcare system.
He stressed that people could be saved from numerous diseases by adopting preventive measures
like vaccination, hygiene, sanitation and healthy lifestyle. He underscored that regular exercise and hygiene
were the guarantee of good health.
He said that role of media was very significant in creating awareness among the masses regarding
prevention and healthy lifestyle and called for developing a narrative of prevention on the basis of solid
data.
The president appreciated the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination’s
initiatives to celebrate “National Fitness Day”.
He also stressed the need for enhancing both number and capacity of lady health workers as they
had a significant role in the provision of basic healthcare to the women and children in far-flung areas
of the country.
