ISLAMABAD, Nov 04 (APP):President Asif Ali Zardari extended his sincere greetings to the Sikh community in Pakistan and across the world on the 556th birth anniversary (Gurpurab) of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
In a message, the president said that Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji was a messenger of peace, tolerance, and equality.
“His teachings on love for humanity, selfless service, and harmony among people of all faiths remain timeless and universal. His message of compassion and unity continues to inspire people everywhere, encouraging mutual respect and understanding among diverse communities,” President Secretariat Press Wing, in a press release, quoted the president as saying.
The president said Pakistan takes pride in being the guardian of several sacred Gurdwaras linked to the life of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji, particularly Gurdwara Janam Asthan in Nankana Sahib.
In addition, he said,  through the establishment of the Kartarpur Corridor, the visa-free link enabling Sikh pilgrims to visit the site of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, Pakistan had worked to facilitate access to this key Sikh holy site across the border.
He said Pakistan remained committed to protecting the rights of all religious minorities, and to preserving and facilitating access to Sikh places of worship.
“We warmly welcome Sikh pilgrims from around the world who visit these revered places to pay their respects,” he added.
On this special occasion, the president urged all citizens to uphold the values of peace, tolerance, and mutual respect that Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji taught centuries ago.
“May his message continue to guide us towards a more inclusive and compassionate society,” he added.
