ISLAMABAD, Feb 15 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari, Sunday, expressed his deep sorrow and grief over the tragic accident that occurred on the national highway in Khairpur, Sindh.
The president prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the deceased and for grant of patience and strength to the bereaved families, President Secretariat Media Wing said in a press release.
The president directed the Government of Sindh to ensure the provision of the best possible medical facilities to the injured.
In this regard, President Zardari spoke on telephone with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and emphasized upon ensuring effective measures to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
He further underlined that a coordinated strategy should be formulated at both the provincial and federal levels to strictly enforce traffic laws on national highways and improve safety arrangements, so as to ensure the protection of the lives and properties of the public.
According to media reports, at least 11 people were killed and several others injured when a passenger bus travelling from Bahawalpur to Karachi collided with a trailer on the GT Road near Tando Masti in District Khairpur.
