President asks NAB to play proactive role in eliminating corruption

ISLAMABAD, Nov 4 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain on Wednesday
asked the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to play a proactive
role in eliminating corruption from the country through across the
board accountability.
He was talking to Muhammad Imtiaz Tajwar, Deputy Chairman NAB,
who called on him here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.
The President said “scourge of corruption has stunted the
growth of country’s economy and institutions,” and asked NAB to
fight corruption by adopting a comprehensive strategy.
A statement from the President Hosue said the strategy should
encompass public awareness, preventive measures, strengthening
prosecution and effective enforcement of laws.
The Deputy Chairman briefed the President about steps being
taken by NAB for accountability of the corrupt.
