PRCS, TRCS sign 5-year MoU, launched Ramazan aid for 3,000 needy families

ISLAMABAD, Feb 24 (APP): The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) and Turkish Red Crescent Society (TRCS) signed a five year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday to boost joint humanitarian work, while launching a Ramazan relief drive distributing 3000 food parcels and 1000 iftar meals to conflict hit and poor families in Tirah, Kurram Valley, Rawalpindi and Islamabad orphanages.
Her Excellency Prof Dr Fatma Meric Yilmaz, TRCS President, accompanied by Director General Alper Kucuk for International Affairs and Migration, visited PRCS National Headquarters, cementing the deep brotherly ties between the two Red Crescent sisters.

In a warm meeting, she conferred with PRCS Chairperson Mrs Farzana Naek on amplifying cooperation, scaling joint aid programmes and reaching remote vulnerable groups, mirroring Pakistan Turkiye peoples historic friendship.
The MoU locks in five year collaboration on capacity building, knowledge exchange, shared operations, training swaps and swift emergency responses.

The days climax unfolded at PRCS Headquarters with a food parcel handout and iftar event, graced by Turkiye Ambassador Dr Irfan Neziroglu plus reps from TIKA, Yunus Emre Institute, Turkish Airlines, International Maarif School, Albayrak Pakistan, Anadolu Ajansi and ASELSAN. Marking World Orphans Day, aid targets hard hit spots and shelter kids.
PRCS Chairperson Mrs Farzana Naek declared the alliance a blazing emblem of Pak Turk brotherhood, tempered in crises. “PRCS vows to supercharge this bond for life saving aid nationwide; this Ramazan push embodies our joint mercy,” she affirmed.
TRCS President Prof Dr Fatma Meric Yilmaz vowed unshakeable solidarity with Pakistanis, pledging tighter PRCS teamwork for aid and resilience.
Ambassador Dr Irfan Neziroglu stressed the societies partnership mirrors profound Pak Turk trust, turning bonds into real help.
Earlier, the guest toured PRCS Library, inscribing the visitors book; inspected the Regional Blood Donor Centre and mobile van, lauding voluntary donation drives and blood safety nationwide.
A pinnacle moment: “Celebrating Commitment to Service” ceremony at PRCS Fatimah Jinnah Auditorium, drawing Turkish Red Crescent, ICRC, IFRC, German Red Cross, Norwegian Red Cross reps alongside PRCS staff and volunteers.
The team revisited TRCS built Disaster Management and Logistics Centre (inaugurated 2009), emblem of Turkiyes rock solid aid for Pakistans disaster readiness.
In eco gesture, Prof Dr Yilmaz planted a memorial tree with Mrs Naek and Ambassador Neziroglu at PRCS lawns.
