PR moving in right direction: Saad Rafique

LAHORE, Jan 9 (APP): Minister for Pakistan Railways (PR) Khawaja Saad Rafique said on Saturday that all political parties should support the government regarding China Pakistan
Economic Corridor (CPEC) which was a project of national importance.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of double track of railways from Lodhran to Raiwind here at Prem Nagar, he said that those who were making efforts to make this project controversial were not serving the nation.
He said under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif poverty, unemployment and ignorance would be eliminated from the country.
“It is a day of milestone for Pakistan Railways as after a long wait, we suceeded in making Karachi-Lahore a double track,” he added.
Saad Rafique said that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif introduced the vision of good governance and transparency and promoted policy of merit in the province.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan Railways has been put on right direction and by following the vision of Shahbaz Sharif, we have achieved
success in improving the railway system”, minister added.
He said the support of federal government in the progress of PR was commendable, adding that the federal government had never interfered in the affairs of Railways and the board concerned takes all decision regarding the betterment of the railways and
operational matters were decided in the PR Headquarters.
He further said that this was the only way to make institutions strong. The minister further said that railway department was achieving its goals and there was no politics
in the department while the culture of merit had been promoted.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister and Federal Minister for Pakistan Railways (PR) Khawaja Saad Rafique inaugurated the double track from Lodhran to Raiwind and also inaugurated new
building of Prem Nagar Station.
Secretary Railways Perveen Agha in her welcome address threw light on the project of railway double track.
Parliamentary Secretary Railways Syed Ashfaq Hussain Kirmani, Chief Executive Officer Railways Javed Anwar, Chairperson Railways Parveen Agha, Railways officials and
a large number of workers were present on the occasion.
