Poor lavatory facilities in girls' educational institutes need attention in South Punjab: Zartaj Gul

ISLAMABAD, Sep 18 (APP):Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul Wednesday said the poor lavatory and hygiene facilities available for girls in educational institutes of South Punjab need attention to reduce serious health risks posed to them.

Speaking as chief guest at a two-day Sanitation Market Shaping Workshop organized by United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), she said in the backward areas like Dera Ghazi Khan there were only two washrooms available in a public school for girls, with 6000 to 7000 students enrolled, having poor hygiene facilities.

Zartaj said, “During my election campaign I realized that there has been no separate lavatory available for women as I could not get any for hours in my entire constituency of Dera Ghazi Khan.”
