Politicians laud peaceful conduct of LG polls

ISLAMABAD, Dec 6 (APP): Minister of State for Interior Baligh ur Rehman has said that people voted in a free and transparent manner in the third phase of local government elections held on Saturday.
Talking to a Radio Pakistan’s programme, he said security arrangements were up to the mark both in Punjab and Sindh to ensure peaceful environment during the polling process.
Chairperson of National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Interior Maryam Aurangzeb said people voted for PML(N) in 2013 general elections. Now, by voting in favour of the party in Local Government (LG) polls, they have authenticated its mandate.
PML(N) Member National Assembly Maiza Hameed said elections were held
generally in peaceful atmosphere and voters turned up in large numbers at
polling stations to exercise their right of franchise.
