Polio drive begins across Hazara Division amid strict security arrangements

ABBOTTABAD, Sep 21 (APP):The anti-polio campaign has kicked off across Hazara Division, with district police making comprehensive security arrangements to protect polio teams and ensure the peaceful conduct of the campaign.

In Mansehra district, more than 2,000 police officers and personnel have been deployed to provide security to 1,835 polio teams on the directives of DPO Muhammad Azhar Khan.

Muhammad Azhar Khan said the protection of polio teams is the top priority of the police. Before the deployment, DSPs and SHOs briefed police personnel on security duties under the supervision of SPs at all police stations and circles.

Security has been further strengthened through checkpoints at all entry and exit points, while police patrolling and surveillance have been intensified in sensitive areas.

In Lower Kohistan, the anti-polio campaign has also formally commenced with foolproof security arrangements on the special directives of DPO Zafar Ahmed Khan.

All SDPOs, SHOs and in-charges of police posts have been directed to directly supervise police personnel deployed with polio teams and personally monitor security arrangements.

Police personnel deployed for the campaign are performing their duties wearing helmets and bulletproof jackets. Checkpoints and snap checks are also being conducted at entry and exit points to ensure the security of the teams.

The DPO Lower Kohistan directed police personnel to remain fully alert and vigilant during the campaign and urged the public to immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.

Police officials also appealed to parents to ensure that their children receive polio drops to protect them from the crippling disease and help make the region polio-free.
