Polio campaign vaccinates 16.4 million children in two days
ISLAMABAD, Sep 23 (APP):The third day of the special anti-polio vaccination campaign is underway in selected districts across the country, with nearly 16.4 million children vaccinated during the first two days.
According to the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC), the campaign, being conducted from September 21 to 27, aims to administer polio drops to around 31 million children in selected districts.
More than 273,000 polio workers are participating in the campaign and visiting households to vaccinate children under five.
According to the NEOC, around 4.618 million children have been vaccinated in selected districts of Punjab, while 5.878 million children have received polio drops in Sindh.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, approximately 4.322 million children have been vaccinated, while more than 1.25 million children have received polio drops in selected districts of Balochistan.
In Islamabad, more than 290,000 children have been vaccinated, while around 83,000 children have received polio drops in two selected districts of Gilgit-Baltistan.
The NEOC said polio is an incurable disease, but it can be prevented through vaccination. It urged parents and caregivers to ensure that every child under five receives polio drops during the campaign.
