Police has significant role in elimination of anti-state elements: President

ISLAMABAD, Dec 10 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain Thursday said as Pakistan was facing threats from anti-state elements, the role of police has attained great significance for elimination of such elements.
The President said this while addressing a delegation of trainee police officers of the National Police Academy which called on him here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr. He said the police will have to benefit from new technology to effectively unravel crimes and mete out punishment to the criminals.

Addressing the police officers, the President stated that in their profession new situations keep surfacing every day which require them to acquire modern professional skills to successfully meet the challenges.

He appreciated the immense sacrifices rendered by police personnel and law enforcement agencies in the fight against terrorism and extremism.The President stated that in order to promote positive image and build trust among the public, police officers will have to serve
the people with humility, devotion and be sympathetic in their dealings with them.

He stated that it was also the responsibility of the police to work for elimination of corruption along with eradicating crimes so that the society could morally become strong.
The President added that police and law enforcement institutions should ensure the supremacy of law and should not be influenced by anyone.

Commandant National Police Academy Muhammad Khalid Qureshi also spoke on the occasion. He also presented a commemorative shield to the President.
