ISLAMABAD, Nov 26 (APP):Chairman Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan Wednesday said that the government is taking strong steps to empower women and youth. He highlighted a 33 percent quota for women in jobs and a 25 percent quota in the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme loan scheme, along with loans at zero interest and on easy terms.
Speaking at an entrepreneurship conference held here, Rana Mashhood said merit and transparency are the foundation of these initiatives.
He said youth talent is now being recognized and nurtured. He expressed pride in the facilities provided to youth in Punjab.
Reforms since 1997, including dismantling the “boti mafia,” have allowed underprivileged children to access higher education and excel academically.
Rana Mashhood also recalled previous reforms under PMYP, such as vocational training programs for women, entrepreneurship support for youth, skill development courses in IT and technology, and scholarships for meritorious students from underprivileged backgrounds.
He said these initiatives have helped thousands of young people and women to achieve financial independence and pursue careers in diverse fields.
He added that the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme provides equal opportunities in science, technology, IT, culture, and sports. “We are ensuring that talented youth and women have platforms to grow and shine,” he said.
Rana Mashhood emphasized that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s vision is strictly merit-based.
