PM’s Special Envoys to Belgium urge Pakistani diaspora to highlight human rights violations in IOK

ISLAMABAD, Sep 27 (APP): Prime Minister’s Special Envoys to Belgium Ijaz ul Haq and Malik M. Uzair Khan on Tuesday urged upon the international community to realize its responsibility in playing an effective role for the resolution of Kashmir issue according to the United Nations’ resolutions.

In a meeting with Pakistani and Kashmiri community in Brussels, the Special Envoys called upon them to extend support for highlighting human rights violations in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir at international level, a message received here from Brussels said.

The envoys briefed the Pakistani and Kashmiri diaspora in detail about the human rights violations being perpetrated by the Indian occupying forces on the innocent people of Jammu and Kashmir.

They emphasized on the importance of the Pakistani and Kashmiri diaspora around the world for harnessing support for the people of Kashmir.

The diaspora could be instrumental in informing their circles about the scale of atrocities being committed by Indian army in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The envoys also referred to the statement of the Prime Minister at the 71st session of the UN General Assembly in which he reminded the Security Council that it had called for the exercise of the right to self-determination by the people of Jammu and Kashmir through a free and fair plebiscite held under UN auspices.

The envoys asserted that steps should be taken by the United Nations to de-militarize Jammu and Kashmir and undertake consultations with India, Pakistan and the true representatives of the Kashmiri people to implement the resolutions of the Security Council.

The two envoys are visiting Belgium as part of the mission of 22 special envoys nominated by the Prime Minister to highlight the grave situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir.

They will also brief the Belgian government EU officials, parliamentarian, think-tanks and journalists about the serious human rights violations and atrocities being committed by Indian forces to suppress the indigenous struggle of people of Kashmir for their right of self-determination.
