ISLAMABAD, Nov 10 (APP):Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Information Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Affairs Ikhtiyar Wali Khan has strongly condemned the recent statement made by KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi against the Pakistan Armed Forces, calling it “deeply offensive and disgraceful.”
In a statement issued on Monday, Wali Khan said the KP Chief Minister had targeted the very institution entrusted with the protection of the Haramain Sharifain (the Holy Mosques).
Wali Khan stated that the remarks insult the soldiers who have laid down their lives for the nation. “Hundreds of officers and thousands of soldiers return home wrapped in the national flag, and their mothers feel pride, not sorrow. The KP Chief Minister is disrespecting their sacrifices,” he added.
He accused the Sohail Afridi of attempting to spread hatred against the armed forces, describing his words as echoing the rhetoric of “Pakistan’s enemies, particularly India and Israel.”
“The Chief Minister appears to be standing with the enemies of Pakistan, not with the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or the country,” Wali Khan said, demanding an immediate apology from him to the people of Pakistan, the Pakistan Army, and the citizens of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The PM’s Coordinator also criticised the KP government over the growing drug trade in the Tirah region, alleging the Chief Minister’s involvement.
“Instead of maligning our armed forces, he should focus on ending the narcotics business destroying our youth,” he said, adding that some ministers’ vehicles had reportedly been used for drug smuggling.
He said statements against the Pakistan Army would not be tolerated under any circumstances. “We will not allow anyone to speak against our defenders,” Wali Khan concluded.
