PML-N’s landslide Victory in AJK, manifestation of its people-friendly policies

PML-N KP issues show cause notices to Sardar Mehtab, Iqbal Jhagra for violating Party discipline

MIRPUR, July 24 (APP): People from all walks of life in Azad
Jammu and Kashmir have described recent landslide victory of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz in AJ&K, as primarily result of visionary people- friendly policies of it’s supreme leadership, especially Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

Pakistan Muslim League (N) has clinched unprecedented success in the AJK Legislative Assembly elections held on July 21 by securing 32 seats against only three and two seats respectively won by its nearest rival parties – the PPP and PTI in directly-contest polls on all 41 seats of the 49-member lower house of the AJK Assembly.

Only three seats were bagged by the State-origin ancient All Jammu Kashmir Muslim Conference besides only seat won by independent candidate in the election.

Independent analysts from different walks of life termed it the success of the general public which had been anxiously waiting for the return of a regime of good governance in Azad Jammu & Kashmir after relection – and they had totally wiped out PPP ruling clique whic had been in power during the past five-year.

Commenting on the unprecedented success of the PML(N) in AJK Elections, Ershad Mahmud, a leading Kashmiri analyst said PML-N is considered a pro-development party in AJK.

Talking to APP on Sunday, Ershad said that the AJK people
pinned hope that on coming to power in AJK PML-N would create jobs, employment and mega projects in the line of its
broad-based policy.

Secondly, its local leadership such Raja Farooq Haider
Khan provided vibrant leadership and promised that he would
empower AJK if he gets power. Therefore, people voted to PML(N) for reforms, economic turnaround and jobs, he added.

Expressing his views over the heavy mandate given by the
thumping majority of the masses to make PML N triumphant in the AJK elections, eminent Kashmiri social worker and Chairman of human rights outfit Kashmir Watch International Mir Muhammad Sideeque Khawaja said that the people of AJK voted for PML (N) to make it successful in the polls with the expectation that the sitting government of PML (N) in Pakistan will take up the case of Human rights violation in Indian Occupied Kashmir in a more effective manner with international community with the coorditation of the party’s upcoming new government in AJK.

“This is very crucial time for the freedom movement of
people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir where they were laying down supreme sacrifices of their previous lives for their fundamental right of freedom from the unlawful Indian rule”, he said.

Sideeque Khawaja said the newly-elected PML (N) Government of AJK has to assume leading role as a base camp to lobby and convince international community for the early peaceful settlement of issue of Jammu and Kashmir.

The KWI chief also lauded the statement of Prime Minister
Nawaz Sharif which he delivered while addressing public meeting in Muzaffarabad on Friday wherein he has said while referring to Imran Khan’s ‘Dharna politics’ in the country that “the success in politics can only be derived through service of
the people instead of staging sit-ins.”

The eminent Kashmiri human rights activist observed that
the convincing defeat to the PTI in AJK elections with securing of only two seats in 49-member house is the manifestation of
the total rejection of ‘dharna’ politics of IK by the
democracy-loving people of Azad Jammu Kashmir through the polls.

Commenting the much-expected victory of PML-N in the
AJK general elections, young Kashmiri scholar Dr. Waqas Ali
Syed said landslide victory of PML (N) depicts that people
of AJK have pinned greater hopes and expectations for service delivery, better governance and empowering AJK.

He observed that huge participation of common public in
the recent elections is the manifestation of people’s trust
in political system which is positive indicator, but upcoming
government has to focus on institutional reforms, enacting
empowered local government and focus on job creation.

Underlining the challenges due to outgoing PPP-led coalition
government of AJK because of its five-year era of worst governance, Dr. Waqas said one of the key challenges to the upcoming government
is to create employment for the youth of AJK by exploiting local resources including tourism and hydel.

He pointed out that Nawaz Government has introduced many mega projects and built infrastructure in Punjab and people of AJK are expecting that their vision of developing infrastructure, like roads and health and schools should be translated in AJK as well, Dr Waqas added.

He also stated that people of AJK has given clear majority to
the PML-N and there is less room of any politics of agitation in AJK as polling was largely conducted in free, fair, peaceful and transparent manner.

Commenting on the exceptional success of PML-N in the AJK Polls, renowned Kashmiri writer and analyst A.H Nizami alleged ill deeds of the outgoing PPP regime in AJK during during entire term had brought the PPP to face a big defeat at the hands of the PML (N).

The outgoing PPP regime in AJK gave poverty and unemployment among educated and skilled youth besides the bad governance, Nizami observed.

He said “it was, in fact, the expression of the reposing of
full confidence in the comprehensive and unequivocal policy of PML(N) head and the Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on early peaceful settlement of Kashmir issue besides for the speedy
progress and prosperity of AJK territory without any discrimination at par with the fast emerging developed parts of Pakistan”.
