PMEB fails to achieve set goals: NA told

ISLAMABAD, Jan 14 (APP):Minister for Religious Affairs Noor ul Haq Qadri  Monday informed the National Assembly that Pakistan Madrasah Education Board (PMEB) had failed to achieve its set objectives.Replying to a question during Question Hour in the National Assembly he said, that there was no justification of
Pakistan Madrasah Education Board existence any more as it had failed to
achieve set goals.
	Madrasah Board could not become
functional because Wafaqs and Tanzeemat did not nominate their representatives
on the board and refused to adopt the government initiative, he added.
	He said madaris were playing a crucial
role in construction, development and moral values of the society.
	On another question, he said two thousand riyals fee had been imposed by Saudi government on the pilgrims, who offered Umra for the second or multiple times.
	This fee has been levied on repeat Umra performers of all nationalities, he added.
	He said that Saudi Arabian authorities were being pursued for waiver of tax of 2,000 riyals imposed on
Pakistani performing Umrah every year.
	He said Prime Minister Imran Khan during his visit to Saudi Arabia in September, 2018 also discussed this
issue with the Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman.
	The minister said that he also discussed the issue with the Saudi Information Minister for waiver of the tax
but response from the KSA is still awaited.
