PM&DC to launch reforms to ensure efficiency, transparency

ISLAMABAD, Jun 20 (APP):The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has decided to launch a comprehensive reform drive to enhance institutional efficiency, transparency, and service delivery.
The directives were issued by its President, Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj, during a high-level meeting with Heads of Departments (HODs).
During the meeting, attended by the Registrar, departmental heads briefed the chair on performance, pending cases, operational challenges, and proposed improvements.
The President issued wide-ranging instructions to strengthen administrative systems and accelerate digital transformation across the organization.
The Finance Department was directed to prioritize verification of financial documents related to medical and dental colleges, including cases of dual fee payments and refunds.
A coordinated tracking system, developed with the IT Department, will be introduced to ensure timely disposal of cases.
The Licensing Department was appreciated for its performance in processing licensing matters but instructed to further reduce any remaining backlog by expediting renewals and extensions.
The IT Department was assigned to develop a dashboard to monitor inspection progress and provide real-time updates for the Minister In-Charge.
It will also submit weekly reports on complaints received through the Complaint Management System (CMS).
The department was further tasked with verifying website data across all sections and developing an online inspection portal on a priority basis.
The Legal Department was commended for timely disposal of disciplinary cases, while directed to urgently address complaints involving loss of life during treatment.
Dedicated software solutions will also be introduced for legal and disciplinary processes.
The Inspection Department was instructed to initiate digitization measures and develop master trainer programmes in collaboration with the IT Department.
The Faculty Department was directed to reactivate inactive faculty members in coordination with institutions, eliminate duplicate entries, and verify active records to ensure database integrity.
The Validation Department will present details of pending verifications in the next meeting and resolve issues related to incorrectly deposited fees in consultation with the IT Department.
The Experience Department was instructed to enhance staff efficiency, with capacity-building workshops scheduled over the next four weeks.
The Examination Department was directed to place an alert on the PM&DC website to safeguard the public from fake MDCAT portals.
The President also announced monthly review meetings on the first Monday of every month and directed all departments to maintain strategic road maps, ensure timely disposal of complaints through CMS, and keep institutional data updated.
Emphasizing discipline, accountability, and digital transformation, Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj stated that with the implementation of the Electronic File System (EFS), physical files will no longer be entertained.
He also directed all departments to ensure effective workforce management and strict adherence to timelines.
